‘LA CALLE EN EL AIRE’

‘Hybrid Building for the Brain Drain’ is the title of this project. Referencing the modern attitudes of the current social and economic lifestyles that we as a society seem to be living nowadays. With the technological advances and the flexibility it provides to the workspace for the modern man, there has been a high demand for temporary, cost-controlled and innovative urban apartments, preferably aimed at a young floating community that is studying or working for the first time in a big city like Madrid or that intends to settle temporarily, but that can easily adapt to other future conditions and other recipients. Sufficient typological variations will be proposed to achieve a broad social mix. It is completed with a community space that contains a nursery, a laundry and some space for collective events equipped with a full kitchen. The building includes a logistics center for the food delivery area. It also includes a surface for coworking-type workspaces (although it should be considered that it can be totally or partially transformed into corporate offices). A terrace-bar and gazebo should be located on the top floor of the building or on its roof. In addition, it includes a surface of a use to be defined, preferably of a public nature, linked to ground floors and therefore in relation to the public space and its definition. The aim in this proposal is to achieve an attractive urban atmosphere, where the spatial relationships, between the private and the collective, can perhaps be diluted at some point or offer richer, inhomogeneous residential patterns. And that therefore the building can offer different possibilities of living and relating in a contemporary way.
